Paulatuk is an Inuvialuit community that is situated on the shores of Darnley Bay in the Amundsen Gulf. It’s about 402 kilometers east of Inuvik. Paulatuk, or “place of coal,” was named for the coal found in the area in the 1920s and used by the local Inuit who settled there. There are approximately 330 people living in Paulatuk, mostly Inuvialuit, who speak Inuvialuktun and English. (http://www.stats.gov.nt.ca/community-data/index.html)
